Business System Analyst: The Connection Between Business and Technology
Nowadays, businesses and organizations have become more complex. They are now more interdependent, interconnected and interrelated than ever before. Firms and companies today are rejecting conventional organization structures in order to create complex communities that are comprised of alliances with outsourcing vendors, strategic suppliers, regulatory entities, partnerships with political groups, and networks of customers. For this reason, there has been a greater demand for business system analysts. A business system analyst is a professional that makes the relationship between stake holders and system developers possible and productive.
Business people often write project specs that usually contain logical and technical mistakes. And because in many companies, the Business Department usually have the superior authority over the organization’s IT department, the IT managers who have very little authority to discuss the specs with the Sales and Marketing Team often have to bend backward to find hacks and workarounds just to be able to implement a flawed spec. This often results to an end product with inferior quality, not to mention a team of frustrated IT professionals. This scenario doesn’t have to happen to an organization. The presence of a business system analyst would bridge the gap between the two departments making the two parties understand each other better so they can effectively work together in building a perfect system or product.
A business system analyst often has a degree in Management of Information Systems or Computer Science. In addition to this, professionals in the field of business system analysis usually have background educations in Business, Accounting and Marketing.
